Doyin (pronounced “doe-ween”) Richards is a dynamic keynote speaker, best-selling author, anti-racism facilitator, TEDx speaker, Slate Columnist, mental health advocate, and lover of cheesy pasta.
Ignoring mental health is a problem. It impacts our homes, schools, businesses, relationships, and sanity — and Doyin knows this all too well, because he almost took his own life three years ago due to his own mental illness (depression).
We are in the midst of two major crises in America: mental health and race-relations. They impact our homes, schools, businesses, relationships, and (obviously) sanity — but do we recognize the signs of these problems? Are we doing enough on the front-end to prevent personal and professional disasters from happening? As a keynote speaker, consultant, and workshop facilitator, Doyin provides tangible, actionable solutions that provides results for his clients all over America. Cisco, LexisNexis, Amazon, Google, Amgen, the PGA Tour, Magnite and PwC are a few of the companies Doyin has worked with.
Mainstream media values his message as he’s often called on to make appearances for NPR and HLN, and has been interviewed by the TODAY Show (and is a member of the TODAY Show’s Parenting Team), ABC News, Essence Magazine, Cosmopolitan, USA Today, CNN, Parents Magazine, Yahoo!, Upworthy, the New York Times, HuffPost, Sunrise Australia, and many more. Not to mention, Doyin recently delivered a powerful TEDx Talk on anti-racism.
His message isn’t just for adults. Doyin authored three picture books for children published by Feiwel & Friends (an imprint of mega-publisher Macmillan). His two most recent books tackle Diversity, Inclusion, and Anti-Racism. WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE? tackles the tough topic of introducing kids to positive race-relations without raising them to be “colorblind.” It was the #1 New Release in the ultra-competitive children’s “Explore The World” category on Amazon. Doyin’s newest book, WATCH ME details the immigration story of his dad who came to the states from a so-called “shithole country” (don’t worry, that language isn’t in the book) to secure his Ph.D. from one of the top universities in the country while adding immense value to America in the process.
Through his Anti-Racism Fight Club workshops, mental health workshops, books, keynote speeches, media appearances, and his recent TEDx talk, Doyin regularly demonstrates that he is a leader in the fields of anti-racism, mental health, healthy masculinity, and fatherhood.
As a graduate of Union College in Schenectady, NY, Doyin holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Psychology. In his spare time, he authors a weekly parenting advice columnist for Slate, loves watching sports (especially the Los Angeles Lakers), coaching youth basketball, working out, watching superhero movies, and eating anything peanut butter flavored. He currently lives with his family in sunny Los Angeles, CA.
Doyin curates presentations and interactive workshops that are highly customized for every client, offering 1-hour keynote speaking events, full-day workshops and engaging webinars.
