DOYIN RICHARDS

Ignoring mental health is a problem. It impacts our homes, schools, businesses, relationships, and sanity — and Doyin knows this all too well, because he almost took his own life a few years ago due to his past battles with depression.

But do we recognize the signs of mental health problems? Are we doing enough on the front end to prevent personal and professional disasters from happening? As a keynote speaker, consultant, and workshop facilitator, Doyin provides tangible, actionable solutions that provides results for his clients all over America. Cisco, Salesforce, LexisNexis, The New York Times, Microsoft, Amgen, the PGA Tour, Workhuman, and Freddie Mac are a few of the companies Doyin has worked with. In fact, he delivered the global keynote address for the United Nations during its World Mental Health Day Event in October 2025, which is arguably the most prestigious mental health keynote speech on the planet.

Mainstream media values his message as he has been called on to make appearances for NPR and HLN, and has been interviewed by the TODAY Show (and is a member of the TODAY Show’s Parenting Team), ABC News, Essence Magazine, Cosmopolitan, USA Today, CNN, Parents Magazine, Yahoo!, Upworthy, the New York Times, HuffPost, Sunrise Australia, and many more. Not to mention, Doyin recently delivered a powerful TEDx Talk on creating a more equitable world.

His message isn’t just for adults. Doyin authored four picture books for children published by Feiwel & Friends (an imprint of mega-publisher Macmillan) that introduce the concept of equity to kids in a way that is palatable, entertaining, and educational.

Through his mental health workshops, books, keynote speeches, media appearances, and his recent TEDx talk, Doyin regularly demonstrates that he is a leader in the fields of equity, mental health, healthy masculinity, and fatherhood.

From an educational perspective, Doyin holds a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University and a Bachelors of Science degree in Psychology from Union College in Schenectady, NY. He is also a registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of California (AMFT 161532) supervised by Michael Anthony Nalepa (LMFT 101240). Please visit Doyin’s Psychology Today page to learn more about his therapy practice.

In his spare time, he loves watching basketball (especially the Los Angeles Lakers and his teenage daughters on the club circuit), working out, watching superhero movies, and eating cheesy pasta and Swedish Fish. He currently lives in Los Angeles, CA.
